Emily Horvath
Pilates Instructor & Movement Specialist
Emily holds a B.S. in Exercise Medicine with an emphasis in Clinical Assessment and Rehabilitation of Orthopedic Injuries from California State University, Fullerton. With a background in gymnastics and fitness, she has trained and taught group exercise—including Aerobics, Spinning, Strength Conditioning, Yoga, and Pilates—since 1996.
Her extensive Pilates education includes training with Elisabeth Larkam’s Polestar Education, Balanced Body University Pilates, and Rael Isacowitz’s BASI International Pilates. Since 2003, Emily has held a comprehensive certification in Advanced Pilates Techniques, a professional teacher-training program in Pilates for Rehabilitation with Marie José Blom through Long Beach Dance Conditioning and Academy of Movement.
Before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, Emily owned Body Reform Pilates Studio in Fullerton, California. She has also worked in Physical Therapy settings with rehabilitation and post-surgical clients, bringing together her knowledge of exercise science, rehabilitation, Pilates, and functional movement.
At Body Restore Pilates, Emily’s focus is primarily on wellness, movement, strength, and restoration. She works with clients of varied ages and abilities, including those seeking to improve their strength, flexibility, stability, body awareness, and functional movement, as well as those transitioning from rehabilitation into ongoing wellness and fitness.
As a stroke survivor, Emily’s own rehabilitation journey has given her an additional perspective on the complex relationship between the brain and body. Experiencing changes in strength, sensation, coordination, and mobility firsthand has deepened her understanding of how individual limitations can affect movement and how the body adapts during recovery. This perspective complements her professional background and brings an added dimension of understanding to the way she approaches each client’s unique movement needs and goals.
When she is not teaching, Emily enjoys cooking and sharing healthy meals with her family, hiking, reading books on Biblical counseling, health and nutrition with a naturopathic approach to wellness, participating in women’s Bible studies, watching classic family television shows, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
